Patna: Panic has gripped residents of the Simratala police station area in Jamui district after a shocking daylight robbery in which six men, posing as police personnel, looted jewellery worth nearly ₹15 lakh from the house of a government school teacher.

The incident took place around 6:35 am on Monday in Telwa Bazaar, when Sanjeev Kumar, the victim, was alone at home.

Police officers investigate the house of a school teacher in Jamui where six men disguised as cops looted jewellery worth ₹15 lakh.
Police teams inspect the residence of teacher Sanjeev Kumar in Jamui after six robbers, dressed in police uniforms, stole jewellery worth ₹15 lakh in a daylight heist.

According to police, the group arrived wearing police uniforms and carrying sticks and pistols. Introducing themselves as officers from the Chakai police station, they claimed a warrant had been issued against Sanjeev. The moment he opened the door, the fake policemen forced their way inside.

The robbers conducted a thorough search of the house and fled with wedding jewellery kept for Sanjeev Kumar’s daughter and other valuables belonging to his wife. Before escaping in a car, they also threatened to take him to the police station if he resisted.

Sanjeev Kumar, visibly shaken while speaking to the media, said the incident had left his family devastated as they were preparing for his daughter’s upcoming marriage.

Soon after receiving the complaint, a team from Simratala police reached the spot and began investigations. CCTV footage from the locality is being examined, and one of the cameras has reportedly captured the robbers’ vehicle.

Station House Officer Dhananjay Kumar said the case is being probed from every angle and expressed confidence that the accused would be identified and arrested soon. Police have assured that all efforts are underway to trace the gang.

The daring robbery in broad daylight has triggered fear and anger among locals, who stepped out of their homes demanding stronger patrolling and reinforcement of security in the region. Many residents pointed out that criminals operating openly in the morning hours reflects a worsening law-and-order situation.

Despite the formation of the new NDA government and Samrat Chaudhary taking charge as Bihar’s Home Minister, incidents of crime appear to remain rampant, with rising cases of robberies and violence increasing concerns among the public.
